Croydon libraries stock a selection of book sets that can be borrowed by reading groups in the community. Each set consists of six books, most of which are contemporary fiction. Further titles will be added occasionally.

You can download a list of current titles below or view the list at any Croydon library.

Community reading group membership

To become a member of the community reading group, you must be a member of Croydon libraries. If you are the named person responsible for borrowing and returning books for the group you will receive an extra library ticket specifically for borrowing book sets. There is no charge to borrow book sets but you will be responsible for damaged or lost books.

Only one book set may be borrowed at a time. The loan period is 12 weeks. Sets kept longer than this are subject to overdue charges.

Sets can be requested in person or by email and will be sent to the Croydon library of your choice to collect.

Choosing and using reading group book sets

In person:

Book sets are kept at the Central library but can be requested at any branch library.

Book sets on loan to other reading groups may not be available immediately. We can inform you when a set is due back and will do our best to supply it when you want it.

When a set is available for collection we will send it to the library you nominated.

Each group can keep a set for up to 12 weeks. If your group finishes with a set before time please return it early so that another group can borrow it.

If you have any queries about this service contact the community reading group.
